More Christ Church Groups and Activities

PRIME TIMERS provides fellowship and support for older (often retired) members of the congregation. The Prime Timers have breakfast together each first Wednesday of the month, enjoy a variety of programs and presentations, and arrange various tour events and activities.

PRAYER GROUP meets Tuesdays at 7 pm in the nave to offer intercessory prayers for members of the congregation, for members’ families and friends, and for anyone who needs or requests it.

THE BOOK DISCUSSION GROUP meets each month to discuss a book chosen by the group.  Some recent works read and discussed include Under the Banner of Heaven by Jon Krakauer; Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson and David Oliver Relin; and The Soloist by Steve Lopez.

WELCA Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America WELCA, is a community of women created in the image of God, called to discipleship in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit. All women of an ELCA congregation are automatically members. The mission of WELCA is to grow in our faith, affirm our gifts, support one another in our callings, engage in ministry, and promote healing and wholeness in the church, society, and the world.

Christ Church has two WELCA circles which meet each month for Bible study, fellowship and service. The Ruth Circle meets at noon at the church, and the Lydia Circle meets at 6:30 in the evening, usually at Panera Bread (in the shopping center just west of the church), with members taking turns leading study sessions. In addition to Bible study, the circles also participate in service projects such as making Chrismons for the Chrismon tree and children in Sunday School; assemble school and health kits or other items for Lutheran World Relief; and join in parish and community related projects as needed.
